I made something!

A few years ago I built myself a standing desk and as part of it I put in a desk mounted wireless charger. In 2022, I replaced the original with a Hopopower wireless charger that promised faster charging.

The only thing that it did was generate heat faster. This is what I get for buying cheap electronics such as these. I do not recommend this to anyone.

What I really wanted was a magsafe like charger that fit in my desktop cutout. A search of Amazon did not turn up anything that fit the bill. I was unable to even find a single charger like the Hopopower that used magnets to help align the device for charging. After this, I decided to make my own. I bought the Apple MagSafe charger and designed my insert to fit the desk and the charger.

To design it, I used TinkerCAD. I am glad that tools like this exist because it allows anyone to try and design something and build skills. I am still not very good at this and learn something new each time I make a design. I have made this version public and please feel free to make edits to it if you find it useful. I do plan to make some more changes in the future. The brim could be a bit smaller so that the Camera bump does not sit on it. I can also cut down on some plastic in some places and maybe add a bit more in others. All in all, I am very happy with version 1.

I have also made the SLT files available on Thingiverse. I hope that someone finds this useful.
